New York, NY – October 31, 2007- Premiering December 10th at 10PM ET/PT with back-to-back episodes, A&E will chronicle the case files of the Paranormal Research Society (PRS), a renowned group comprised of Penn State University college students, in the dramatic new Real-Life series PARANORMAL STATE.
Penn State University student Ryan Buell gets a call from a client telling him that her eight-year-old son is seeing dead people in the family's new home. Ryan has a deep connection to this child before they even meet, as he too was terrified by paranormal experiences as a kid. Ryan and the PRS team travel to the client's home, interview the family and child and investigate to determine if there is evidence of paranormal activity or if what they are witnessing is just the imagination of a child. As if this wasn't enough for a paranormal investigator to handle, Ryan must be back in time for his Economics class the next morning.

Sneak Peek: Paranormal State Premiering Dec 10th on A&E
The first two cases in A&E’s Paranormal State premiere, with limited commercial interruption, premiers on December 10th at 10 PM ET on A&E. Join Ryan Buell and his team of paranormal researchers as they investigate their first mysterious happenings in two back-to-back episodes.
First, in “Sixth Sense,” a worried mother calls the Paranormal Research Society (PRS) to help her son Matthew, a boy who sees dead people. Matthew's story strikes a chord with Ryan - who also experienced paranormal activity as a child. Ryan investigates, and discovers that "Timmy", the spirit Matthew sees most often, could actually be the spirit of a neighbor who died on the property years before the family moved there. When Ryan shows Matthew a picture of the real Timmy, the boy identifies him immediately!
In the second episode, “The Name,” airing at 10:30pm ET Ryan and company enlist the assistance of psychic Chip Coffey to help a single Mom who is experiencing paranormal activity in a home that was once the site of brutal murders. But the case is turned upside down when it's discovered that Ryan himself is the target of a taunting demon whose name spells pure evil. Check out a clip of this episode here.

Monday night, December 10th, showed two back to back episodes of the new Paranormal based show - Paranormal State.
Review of First Episode 'Sixth Sense'
Quote: "There's three of them, they come at night time, they are angry that we're here..."
Eight year old Matthew is seeing dark cloudy figures and mists, ( one spirit in particular he sees full-bodied ), and bad voices telling him to commit violent acts. Having been to counselors and doctors, yet no one knows exactly what is wrong, or causing what Matthew claims to be experiencing.
The family had no trouble until they moved into a specific home, ( which had a death of a former resident unbeknownst to them until after they had moved in ). The occurrences surrounding Matthew is affecting him both mentally and physically - draining him and family. Matthew is so scared, he will not sleep on his own, is having problems in school, and constantly falling asleep - even though on sleeping pills. He is beginning to feel as if being attacked by one, or more, entities.
His mother, Shelly, has asked PRS for help, be it paranormal or not, and here is where it all begins.
Ryan Buell interviews the mother and father, and Adam, a trained therapist, interviews Matthew to see if he may be really experiencing what he claims, or if he is making it all up. When asked the question, "So, what do dead people look like?" Matthew answers, "Sometimes they look bloody, sometimes they don't.."
The show is very intense and you follow the team and family through the investigation, which took three days to complete. Through thorough investigating, they not only obtained knowledge of the area, home and surroundings, but interviewed neighbors, and family | friends of the deceased as well.
After 'Dead Time', in which they set up equipment in the early morning hours of 3 AM, ( 'The Anti-Hour' - sometimes referred to as the Witching Hour ), they performed a cleansing ritual of the dwelling, or blessing, which seemed to quiet things down and offer the family some peace.
The case is still an open one, as follow ups on Matthew and the families well being is still being done. They Parents have accepted Matthew's gift of being clairvoyant, and they appear content and more at ease.

Paranormal State was much more than expected it would be. The paranormal knowledge of the team, especially Ryan Buell, team leader, was pleasantly surprising and refreshing. They are not quick to claim something Paranormal, but to first see all options | possibilities first.
Getting to view and know the families, what they are going through, gives you a more in depth understanding of what they may be experiencing, and also how the team of the PRS works together to help them.
The teams professional ways and teamwork is also very indicative of their passion of the Paranormal, and their wanting to help these families which contact them.

A&E Ghost Hunters Visit Willard Center - Jane Flasch (Romulus, N.Y.) - On Wednesday, the Arts & Entertainment (A&E) network filmed in our area at the old Willard Psych Center in Romulus, Seneca County.
